Confirmation at Caldwell UMC is for youth from 6th grade and up!
During confirmation the confirmands, mentors, and the pastor will meet together regularly for confirmation lessons and other events (including the Bishop’s Confirmation Rally) that will be scheduled until the classes are complete and they will be presented before the congregation, where the pastor and others put their hands on them and bless them.
In the United Methodist Church confirmation is an important marker along our spiritual journeys. It is an opportunity to respond to the grace of God available to us, as acknowledged in baptism, and to promise to live as a person of faith. Confirmation therefore provides for the confirmands an opportunity to reaffirmation of our responses of commitment, profession of faith, and rededication.
What is all about!
Through confirmation confirmands are preparing to understand what they could not about God was doing in their baptism, they respond by professing their own acceptance of the grace they have received and their own faith in Christ, and, the Church, as represented by this congregation, confirms the commitments they make.
Confirmation is not a destination; rather it is a way to renew our commitment to the journey we have been traveling under the care of others. It is the first time that persons publicly declare their intention to live out the vows of the baptismal covenant.
For the Congregation confirmation is…
…A time for a congregation to celebrate their young people’s commitment to live as a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ and to renew their commitment to do the same.
