Pastor Jacob’s popular expression is that, “I am greatly inspired to work together with the saints to ensure that Caldwell UMC realizes its fullest potentials – we will be the church where every member freely expresses their faith and is equipped to serve within the church and beyond the walls.” To this end he works to ensure that the church continues to be relevant in community through meeting people at their point of need, as well as establishing the much needed partnerships within the community.
Pastor Jacob prides in the United Methodist Church, that it was significant for him from his birth to this date; born in a UMC hospital, attended UMC elementary and high schools, undergraduate, some of his graduate work and finally, seminary. This, coupled with his initiation into the church and discipleship thereof, is evidence enough for him that the church is fulfilling its mission of “…making disciples of Christ for the transformation of the world.”
Pastor Jacob is in his first UMC appointment but brings to Caldwell UMC a wealth of leadership, pastoral and missionary experience from other ministry settings, both from within and outside the United Methodist Church. These include the Richard & Julia Institute for Discipleship where he is current volunteer coordinator for international programs, and past ministry and related experience in Botswana, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe & India. He has worked as Director of Gaborone Academy of Education and National General Secretary/CEO of the Zimbabwe YMCA before his appointed to Caldwell UMC. Pastor Jacob holds a Certificate in Social Work (School of Social Work, Harare, Zimbabwe), Diploma in Church Administration and Management (Ecumenical and Human Resources Training Center, Zimbabwe Council of Churches), BA Religion & Philosophy (Southwestern College, Winfield, Kansas), and MA Theology (Living Waters Theological Seminary, Harare, Zimbabwe).
